Hungarian Grand Prix F1 Race at Hungaroring, 1 - 3 August
Formula One fans, start your engines! The Hungarian Grand Prix returns to the iconic Hungaroring circuit from August 1–3, offering an action-packed weekend of high-speed drama, world-class racing, and unforgettable atmosphere.

Located just 20 kilometres outside Budapest, the Hungaroring is one of the most cherished stops on the F1 calendar. With its tight, twisting layout and notoriously difficult overtaking zones, it’s often compared to Monaco — minus the harbour. This unique track layout challenges even the most experienced drivers and regularly delivers surprises.

The Hungarian Grand Prix has been a fixture of the F1 season since 1986, making it the oldest race in Central and Eastern Europe. Over the decades, it has witnessed legendary performances, intense rivalries, and unforgettable moments. Last year's race saw thrilling battles for position and bold strategies, keeping fans on the edge of their seats.

What to Expect This Year:

  • Practice & Qualifying (August 1–2): Watch teams fine-tune their machines and drivers push to the limit in the crucial build-up to race day.

  • Race Day (August 3): The main event promises electrifying action, with top drivers competing for glory on one of the sport’s most technically demanding circuits.

  • Family-friendly fun & fan zones: Beyond the track, enjoy live entertainment, interactive displays, food stalls, and merchandise stands.

The Hungaroring's natural bowl-like setting offers excellent viewing from almost every seat, creating an electric atmosphere for spectators. Whether you're a die-hard motorsport enthusiast or a casual fan, the Hungarian Grand Prix is a summer highlight not to be missed.

Travel Tip: Make the most of your visit by exploring nearby Budapest, known for its thermal baths, stunning architecture, and vibrant nightlife - perfect for unwinding after a day at the races.

Hungarian Grand Prix - Police: 1,500 police officers and 200 cameras keeping spectators safe

Spectators at the Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix this weekend can feel safe in the knowledge that 1,500 police officers will be on duty and more than 200 cameras will be monitoring venues to ensure smooth traffic management and crime prevention, a spokesperson for the Pest County Police Headquarters said in Mogyorod on Friday.

In addition to Hungarian police, 18 officers from abroad, including from Austria, the Netherlands, Croatia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Romania, will be on patrol.

Patrols will also be mounted on horseback, on motorcycle and take place in the air, as well as with dog-handlers, Andrea Belicza Beluzsarne said at the temporary police station set up at the main entrance of the Hungaroring.

Around the track's campsite, police will be on duty 24/7 and will be aided by language interpreters.

The spokesperson said the number of crimes had fallen drastically in recent years, though she warned of the possibility of tent break-ins.

Travel times are expected to lengthen over the weekend, so the police are asking everyone to make timely departures, she said, adding it was worth monitoring the police website and social media for traffic updates.

Hungaroring reckons a record number of spectators, or 70,000-80,000 per day, are expected for the 40th anniversary Hungarian Grand Prix, the spokesperson said.
