Shortly after taxi drivers began a demonstration against ride-sharing services in the capital today, Uber, the biggest ride-sharing service in Budapest, sent a mass email to their users offering a half-price discount on rides. The email suggests that using Uber would help people get around the traffic jams caused by the protest.

Civil groups held a demonstration on Sunday against a development project in the City Park, dubbed the Liget Project, which includes constructing a museum quarter. Over five hundred participants adopted a symbol of their protest, a tree growing out of a clenched fist.
