From the Island of Mohács the „devils” still come on boats, according to the legend. Those arriving by boats walk to Kóló Square to join the rest, and then all proceed through the streets, mixing in with the audience along the way.

On Sunday 31 January, Müpa and the Budapest Festival Orchestra will be presenting their ninth music Marathon; the concerts start early and will fill Müpa’s concert halls non-stop into the evening. For the first time, the Marathon will feature not one but two composers: the great romantics, Mendelssohn and Schumann.

An encounter between an extraordinary female vocalist and a virtuoso pianist - Lilienn and Tibor Kónyai have been working together for more than three years. They've given successful concerts in Denmark, at cultural centres and at festivals, and their first joint album recently came out with the title of Jazz For Two.

A new festival dedicated to jazz will be added to the Budapest music scene from April, the organiser said. “We want the festival to become a regular event presenting prominent foreign performers and leading Hungarian musicians, as well as promoting young Hungarian amateur bands,” Attila Kleb, managing director of Get Closer Concerts, said.
