On Friday, 4 August, the beautifully renovated Chain Bridge reopens in time to mark Budapest’s 150th anniversary as a united city. To celebrate, from 6pm to midnight, the Chain Bridge Picnic brings together live street music, free snacks and children’s activities. After dark, the lights are turned on and the bridge will regain its former glory.

The dancing plague was a cause of dancing mania that occurred in Strasbourg, Alsace, in the Holy Roman Empire from July 1518 to September 1518. Somewhere between 50 and 400 people took to dancing for days.
Dancing Plague is the lighter version of EDR, celebration of summer and uplifting music.

Idly looking around online for things of a cultural bent to do in the capital, I landed on the Müpa Budapest website and was struck by how many of the events were sold out, particularly as we’re talking pretty high culture.
