The national flag was hoisted in front of Parliament on Saturday morning, as the start of state celebrations marking the anniversary of Hungary's revolution that broke out on 15 March 1848. President János Áder, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Speaker of Parliament László Kövér, as well as members of the Government, representatives of political parties and diplomats attended the ceremony.

The renovation of Kossuth square in front of the Parliament building in Budapest is almost complete, Project Director Tamás Wachsler told MTI. The square has been renovated under the programme named after Imre Steindl, the 19th-century Hungarian architect who built the neo-Gothic Parliament. A paved square has been added on 55,000 square metres and the park has been extended, Wachsler said.
