Many of the Hungarian expatriates in the West originally meant to work away from home just for a few years but eventually they never return. Most of them remit money to their relatives but, paradoxically, the remittances might have a negative effect on the Hungarian economy.

Alan Sonfist (New York, 1946–) is regarded by art historians as the greatest living exponent of the movement known as land art, earth art, or environmental art. Alongside Robert Smithson, Walter de Maria, Michael Heizer and James Turrell, he was among the first artists whose works derived their themes, and the media used to execute them, directly from nature.
