Although Roman Catholic he would say “yes” to restoring death penalty in a referendum, he said. “It must be decided what is more important: a couple of international agreements, or the life of Hungarian people,” Vona said.

Zsolt László Szabó, head of state media manager MTVA, yesterday reported the weekend assault on M1 newsreader Miklós Borsa to Balatonfüred police. An unidentified man physically attacked Borsa in Balatonfüred on Saturday after confirming that he was the face of M1 news, saying “tell lies now”.

The attackers first asked Miklós Borsa if he was a news reader, then assaulted him, shouting “you can lie now!” Borsa is “relatively well”, but is not fit to work, M1 said.
