31 percent of Hungarians aged 20-39 still live with their parents, reports news site Magyar Nemzet citing data from Hungary’s Central Statistical Office (KSH). According to the data, the number of adults in this age group living with their parents in 1990 was around 459,000. This number had increased to 819,000 by 2001 and is currently 883,000.

The government-supported vocational training scheme for ethnic Hungarians in neighbouring countries has proved successful this year, the state secretary for Hungarian communities beyond the borders said. Hungary’s summer festivals are receiving a total of nearly 500 million forints (EUR 1.6m) state support this year, an official of the Ministry of Human Resources said. State secretary Bence Rétvári told a press conference that the Sziget Festival in Budapest, the Volt Festival in Sopron in western Hungary and the Balaton Sound festival are getting a combined 150 million forints (EUR 476,000).
