Roughly a thousand foreigners have given the address of a 40-bed motel in Budapest’s 19th district as their permanent place of residence in the run-up to Sunday’s municipal elections, according to left-wing daily Népszabadság. The majority are Romanian citizens but a number of Slovaks have also registered the Viktória Pension as their permanent place of Hungarian residence.

The governing parties are also expected to keep their hold on the majority of town councils, the analysis published on Tuesday said.
