Tennessee Williams' most acclaimed work, A Streetcar Named Desire is transformed into a modern dance drama on the stage of the Erkel Theatre. The state will phase out 12 public private partnerships (PPP) running at universities, buying them out for a total of 29 billion forints (EUR 93m), state secretary for education László Palkovics announced after signing contracts with the chancellors of the universities in question.

One of the largest concert hall organs on the European continent, which has since become famous around the world, was inaugurated on 22 May 2006. It was built by German firm Mühleisen Orgelbau GmbH and Pécsi Orgonaépítő Manufaktúra from Hungary.
