Reports have emerged that Béla Orgován, who was appointed CEO of the Quaestor group at an extraordinary general meeting on March 16, is a former convict who did not finish high school. The 38-year-old Orgován has been convicted of theft several times and of attempted murder once, his neighbours say.

Austrian state railway company ÖBB has delivered 10 used carriages to its Hungarian counterpart MÁV, which have undergone an overhaul and are ready for use. MÁV Start CEO György Záránd said Hungary agreed to buy 55 Lange-Schlieren trains with a maximum speed of 140kph from ÖBB after the Austrian company bought trains capable of 160-180kph.

The National Bureau of Investigation yesterday raided the Budapest headquarters of brokerage Quaestor and initiated criminal proceedings against an unidentified person on suspicion of large-scale fraud. Chairman and CEO Csaba Tarsoly was in the office during the search and is co-operating with authorities, his lawyer said.
