A 300-year-old building complex that is part of the Benedictine Archabbey of Pannonhalma, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in northwest Hungary, is to be expanded into a four-star hotel through an investment of HUF 5 billion. The government will support the project with a HUF 2.95 bln grant.

Consumer prices in Hungary grew by an annual 2.5 percent in November, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported on Friday. The pace of the increase accelerated from 2.2 percent in October. Food prices rose by 3.4 percent and the price of tobacco and spirits jumped 7.1 percent. Clothing prices edged up 0.5 percent and consumer durable prices were 0.2 percent lower.

Hungary’s rolling average three-month jobless rate dropped to 4 percent in the August-October period from 4.1 percent in the previous three month period, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said on Wednesday. The August-October rate was down from 4.7 percent in the same period a year earlier.

Hungary’s cash flow-based budget, excluding local councils, ran a 1,418.2 billion forint (EUR 4.5bn) deficit at the end of October, the Economy Ministry confirmed in a second reading of data released Tuesday. The deficit reached 121.6 percent of the 1,166.4 billion forint full-year target. In the month of October alone, the shortfall amounted to 181.9 billion forints.
