Retail Sales up in Hungary
Retail sales in Hungary rose 3.1pc year-on-year in October, data released by the Central Statistics Office (KSH) on Thursday show. Retail sales also rose 3.1pc when adjusted for calendar year effects.

Adjusted food sales increased 1.2pc, non-food sales climbed 5.2pc and vehicle fuel sales edged up 0.6pc.

Online and mail-order sales volume, which accounted for 8.9pc of retail turnover, rose 10.8pc.

In a month-on-month comparison, retail sales inched up 0.5pc, adjusted for seasonal and calendar year effects.

In absolute terms, retail sales came to HUF 1,762bn in October. Food sales accounted for 49pc of the total, non-food sales for 37pc and sales at petrol stations for 15pc.

For the period January-October, retail sales rose an adjusted 2.9pc and an unadjusted 2.6pc from the same period a year earlier. Food sales increased an adjusted 2.6pc, non-food sales 4.3pc and motor fuel sales 0.7pc.
