World renowned Spanish tenor Placido Domingo will perform at a charity ball to be held at the Budapest Opera House on February 6, 2016. The Shakespeare Ball will be part of a series of exclusive balls re-launched by the opera in 2014, the Opera said. Thousands of people marched across central Budapest on Saturday afternoon to call for acceptance and identical rights for Hungary’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) community. Publishers from 24 countries have bought the rights to film director Péter Gárdos’s novel Hajnali láz (“Fever at Dawn”) the story of how his parents met and fell in love in 1945. After surviving the Holocaust, Miklós Gárdos was in a Swedish refugee camp when he asked for a list of Hungarian Jewish girls who were also temporarily housed in Sweden.
