7 Top Tips for Travelers at Budapest Airport this Summer
The summer season at Ferenc Liszt International Airport is now in full swing, offering travelers a gateway to 130 cities. In order to ensure a smoother experience, the airport's operator released an array of useful tips.

1. Streamlined Arrival and Check-In

To ensure a smooth departure, passengers are advised to arrive at least two and a half hours before their flight. With up to 60,000 travelers passing through daily, arriving early helps in managing time for baggage check-in, security screening, and enjoying the terminal facilities. For efficiency, passengers are encouraged to enter the terminal unaccompanied to minimize congestion.

Online check-in and parking reservations can save both time and money, guaranteeing a hassle-free start to your journey. The new Terminal Parking between Terminal 2 and the ibis Styles Budapest Airport Hotel adds 586 parking spaces, including eight spaces for coaches.

The modernized parking system includes new pay machines, accessible for passengers with reduced mobility, and credit card payment options. A license plate recognition system facilitates easy exit from the car park without needing to insert a ticket.

This overhaul included the replacement of 65 entrance and exit lane systems, 34 pay stations, and 3 manual cash desks.

2. Efficient Baggage Handling

For travelers with hold baggage, 36 self-service kiosks are available to print bag tags and place bags on the designated carousels.

For those traveling with hand baggage only, the main entrance near the 100E bus stop leads directly to security screening. Queuing display monitors show the fastest security checkpoint, information also available on the Budapest Airport website.

Notably, passengers no longer need to remove electronic devices from their bags during security checks, and Fast Track lanes offer a quicker screening process.

3. Family-Friendly Amenities

Families with young children can benefit from free strollers available post-security until boarding. The airport features five nursing rooms with changing facilities, armchairs, and microwaves, alongside three refurbished play areas, each themed uniquely to engage children.

4. Pet-Friendly Facilities

Pet owners can utilize a dog park near Terminal 2, complete with a drinking fountain and various outdoor equipment for pets, while owners relax on comfortable benches and watch aircraft take off and land.

5. Quiet Zones and Leisure Facilities

For those needing a quiet space, four soundproofed quiet boxes are available, seating two people each. Avid readers will appreciate the reading corners on Pier 1 and Pier B, furnished with comfortable armchairs and a selection of books. Musical travelers can enjoy playing or listening to pianos placed in these areas.

Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy their wait on one of three terraces. The newest addition in Terminal 2B includes benches with induction chargers and USB ports amid a green, pleasant environment.

6. Accessibility and Passenger Services

Information kiosks and tactile lanes on the landside assist visually impaired passengers, while terminal information staff are on hand to help navigate the airport. The number of baggage trolleys has been increased by 300 to accommodate the high passenger volume.

7. Enhanced Customer Feedback and Shopping Experience

Budapest Airport now includes an on-site satisfaction measurement system, allowing passengers to provide feedback on specific processes and developments.

The airport also offers a variety of shops with unique, high-quality products, including souvenirs, perfumes, and fashion items. Dining options abound, with numerous food and beverage outlets and exclusive lounges providing delicious meals and coffee.
