The first Budapest Circus Festival was held 20 years ago, in 1996 and as a result of the notion and casting of the professionals of the Hungarian Circus And Variety Non-profit Ltd. (MACIVA) it soon proved to be equal with the great festivals of the circus world: in addition to Monte Carlo, Latina and Moscow also Budapest has become an important meeting place for the circus art.

Budapest Art Factory (BAF) is delighted to announce the solo show of its first artist resident in 2015. Pascal Dombis (FR) completed his video installation titled The End(less) at the premises of BAF during his May residency. The piece will be broadcast in the evening hours on May 29, 2015 6-8. pm. at the Project Space of BAF.

Opposition parties on Monday criticised the renewed programme structure of Hungary’s public media. The changes launched on March 15 by the Media Service Support and Asset Management Fund (MTVA) include a 24-hour rolling news channel on the frequency formerly occupied by the main channel.

New state news channel M1 produced disastrous ratings on Sunday, according to Nielsen Express figures made public by ATV. The data show that ATV had more viewers among adult TV subscribers than M1 between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. Sunday evening.

Hungary’s Media Authority To Sign Community Broadcast Licence With Klubrádió

The national media authority NMHH will sign a contract with Klubrádió on awarding the commercial broadcaster a licence to operate as a community broadcaster next Thursday, the authority told MTI. Under the contract, the radio operating now on the commercial Budapest 95.3 MHz frequency will switch over to the community Budapest 92.9 MHz frequency on Feb. 14, the authority said.
