The first marathon at the Palace of Arts in 2008 showcased the works of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The series of 11 concerts on a single day covered a cross-section of the great master's ouevre and exceeded all expectations with its unique theme and atmosphere. Despite her young age, Moscow-born Alexandra Soumm is one of the most renowned and sought-after soloists today. She won the in-house competition of the Vienna Conservatory in 2002, before going on to win the Eurovision Young Musicians competition in Lucerne in 2004.
