1. Where did you grow up?
I was born in Budapest and grew up in the 11th district in Buda.
2. If you could be an expat anywhere in the world, where would you choose?
Hmm, that's a difficult one. The first two places that came to my mind are New Zealand and New York. The reason is not that these are both New... Very different vibes I guess. Never been to any of those.
I'd also consider South American countries, e.g. Peru.
3. What would you miss most if you moved away from Hungary?
I'd take my loved ones with me but I'd still miss the rest of the family and a few good friends.
4. Friends are in Budapest for a weekend - what must they absolutely see and do?
Well if they are my friends they must absolutely come over for dinner and chat to my house. :)
Also, you know, a great way to discover a new city, for me, is just wandering around. No destination, no guide, no map. So they should ramble the streets of Budapest and eventually pop in to a café, gallery, shop, market or restaurant they fancy. Meet local people. Have a taste of Budapest.
5. What is your favourite food?
I'm a pescatarian and love salmon but I could never refuse a good Indian or Thai curry. Just learning how to make a proper one.
6. What is your favourite sport / form of exercise?
Probably biking. Used to play badminton as an almost pro long ago and it still makes me happy to play.
7. What is your favourite place in Hungary?
Nature reserves and forests. Several different ones across the country. Some of my artworks were inspired by trips to these places.
8. What career other than yours would you love to pursue?
I always wanted to be an artist. Actually I needed to become one. Can't think of anything else more satisfying for me however I truly appreciate and respect the work of helpers, social workers etc.
9. Where did you spend your last vacation?
It was a motorbike trip to the Slovak Paradise. Absolutely beautiful.
10. Where do you hope to spend your next one?
Portugal. Italy. Morocco. Faroe Islands. I could continue...
11. What was your favourite band, film, or hobby as a teen?
I listened to a lot of rock music as a teenager. Led Zeppelin, Guns and Roses (saw them live in the 90s), Black Sabbath, Patti Smith and many more. One of my favourite movie director was Hal Hartley. Loved his movies. As well as Michelangelo Antonioni's. I used to make jewellery. That was my most beloved hobby.
12. Apart of temptation what can't you resist?
A hug from my partner.
13. Red wine or white?
Red, dry.
14. Book or movie?
Book. But it's not an easy choice.
15. Morning person or night person?
Definitely not a morning person. Night person.
16. Which social issue do you feel most strongly about?
Unfortunately there are too many to pick one...
17. Buda or Pest side?
Buda.
18. Which achievement in your life are you most pleased about?
I'm super happy to still live the life of a freelance artist and art teacher. I love creating, could not live without it. I also do love to accompany my students on their own pathway of growth. Amazing to see them being happy with their always developing art creations.
Not to mention the many expat friends I made throughout the years: as I offer classes in English and Hungarian I've been lucky to meet amazing people from all over the world.
