Hungarian History: Anniversary of Massacre at Madéfalva Commemorated in Hungary

Commemorations were held in Siculeni (Madéfalva), in central Romania, on Saturday, marking the anniversary of a massacre in which hundreds of Szekler Hungarians were slain by Austrian troops 259 years ago. In a commemorative speech at the Siculicidium Memorial, Hungarian Justice Minister Judit Varga said that like the history of the Hungarian nation, “our joy and our sorrow are also one”.
