Electricity demand in Hungary reached a new summer peak on Tuesday as people tried to stay cool during a heat wave, dailies said on Wednesday, citing data from transmission system operator Mavir. Demand reached 6,450 MW early in the afternoon on Tuesday. Last summer, demand peaked at 6,050 MW. The previous record, of 6,320 MW, was set in 2007.
