In June 1,500 hectares of GMO corn crop were destroyed by orders of authorities, Népszabadság has learnt. The Montoni type corn imported from Romania by German company Saaten Union was GMO infected. The Rural development Ministry informed all farmers concerned to destroy the crops within three days, by July 1.
