Hungary Is Fourth Cheapest Country In EU
The cost of living in Hungary is lower than in all but three other EU countries, according to the EU statistics office Eurostat. Prices of goods and services in Hungary were 64% of the EU average in 2011, Eurostat found. Alcohol and tobacco were cheaper in Hungary than in any other EU country, at 63% of the average.

The related figures for goods and service prices was only 51% in Bulgaria, and 60% in both Poland and Romania. The most expensive country was Denmark at 142% of the EU average.

Hungary’s food prices were 83% of the EU average, while the figure for clothing was 85%.
