In February 2018, the number of nights spent by international tourists increased by 7.4% and that of nights spent by domestic tourists by 10.7% compared to a year earlier, data from the Central Statistical Office (KSH) show. Total gross revenues grew by 12% at current prices in accommodation establishments.

The number of guest nights spent in commercial accommodation in Hungary rose by an annual 3% to 4,439,000 in August, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said. Guest nights spent by Hungarian tourists rose by 2.3% to 2,390,000, while nights spent by foreign visitors grew by 3.8% to 2,049,000.

About 2,000 rooms could be added to the total capacity of hotels in Hungary in the next two years, consultancy firm KPMG said in a fresh analysis. Hungary’s hotel capacity would increase even without the needs of the upcoming major sports competitions and the planned 5,000-seat convention centre taken into account.
