International Visitor Numbers High In Q1
Hungary’s tourism industry continued its robust expansion in March after a record month in February, figures the Central Statistics Office released on Thursday showed. The long holidays on March 15 and Easter lifted the figures.

The number of guest nights at commercial accommodations rose 13.1% on the year to 2.053 million. Foreign guest nights increased 10.1% to 1.045 million. Domestic guest nights were up 16.5% at 1 million.

The Hungarian Tourism Agency said the rise in guest nights was "stunning". The number of Spanish guests increased over 60% on the year.

In January-March, guest nights were up 10.8% at 5.15 million from a year earlier, split equally between domestic and foreign guests.

The revenue of hotels with at least three stars increased 14.5% to Ft 86 billion. The room occupancy rate rose by 3.5 percentage points to 50.8% in the first quarter.
