The Hungarian government has been actively recruiting new citizens from the neighboring countries, presumably to add to their vote total at the next national election. In order to be eligible for citizenship a person must have at least one ancestor who was a Hungarian citizen. He must also have some knowledge of the Hungarian language.

A leading liberal expert admits that the vote in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe was “a victory for Orbán, albeit a tiny one”.

Mr Melles has been the Country Manager in Hungary for Air France KLM since August 2009. Originally from Székesfehérvár, he was born on 5 January, and attended the Teleki Blanka Gimnazium until 1998. He went on to read Business Studies at the International Business School in Budapest. He then starting his fast-track career with Nestle in the summer of 2002.

"A group of Holocaust survivors and heirs filed a lawsuit in Chicago against several banks, including banks based in Hungary, demanding compensation of more than USD 2 million. A similar group has recently filed a lawsuit against Hungary’s state-owned railway company MÁV, demanding USD 8.92 billion (HUF 1,773 bn).
