Thanks to the government’s advance planning for the 2016 budget “everyone can move forward,” Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said in his regular Friday morning interview with public radio. The goal is to push the jobless rate down to around 3% by 2018- 2019, which in effect would mean full employment. Tax cuts are a means to stimulate employment and they are also tantamount to a pay rise, he added.

Hungarian tax police have uncovered a crime ring operating through a network of Hungarian and Slovak companies, and the tax office (NAV) is demanding repayment of unlawfully claimed refunds of almost 3 billion forints (EUR 9.7m) in value-added tax, NAV said. Altogether 12 suspects have been taken into custody.

The majority are Romanian citizens but a number of Slovaks have also registered the Viktória Pension as their permanent place of Hungarian residence.

Balázs Lehóczki at the European Court press department said a private individual took out a loan denominated in Swiss francs from Erste Bank in late 2007.
