Having visited India, Japan, Turkey and Russia, Viktor Orbán will soon go to Beijing. Witnessing this foreign policy offensive, observers wonder whether or not the government is preparing Hungary’s adieu to the West or does it simply mean that Hungary has also entered the global race for markets. The other question addressed in this article is what place does the Budapest–Belgrade railroad line ...

The media monitors at a Hungarian-language news site called Galamus have stumbled across something truly extraordinary. After 1,400 incendiary live shows and four acclaimed albums, last year saw the musician previously known as a punk poet become (whisper it) a sort of pop star. From a fake Glastonbury Tor, Turner performed at the Olympics ...

György Bolgár’s Let’s Talk It Over is a liberal talk show with a huge fan club. I myself rarely miss it. Bolgár comes up with topics that he finds interesting or important and usually adds a comment with a question mark at the end. Today I learned that Ferenc Gyurcsány visited Viktor Orbán’s old dormitory, the István Bibó Kollégium, yesterday. Only students of the college could attend the ...
