How do I get a Sziget card and how do I use it?

You can get your Sziget card at Sziget card top up points. You can upload any amount, including those dreaded 100 Forint coins pulling down your pocket. Now you have nothing else to do, but to leave your wallet and belongings in the luggage locker and trying out your brand new Sziget card.

If you found a restaurant or bar that accepts the card - that will be an easy one, because every bar and restaurant accepts the card – you can try out its benefits immediately.

After you ordered out your beer, there is nothing left to do but to tap your card to the card reader, hold it there for 1 second and that’s it. Of course if you want to give a tip for the waitress, you can do that too.

Registration

For the Sziget card to operate safely we recommend you register it with Metapay. The registration can be handled through SMS by sending a text message to +36 20 66-99-777. The message should consist of the word REG, the 9 digit card number and a 4 digit PIN code of your choice (e.g. REG 123456789 1234). You can also register at top up points or by visiting www.metapay.hu.

Balance

The balance on the card is rechargeable with an amount of your choice, but not more than a total of 240 000 HUF. Top ups can be made at Sziget card top up points.

Balance can be checked at merchants accepting the card, at Sziget top up points or at the www.metapay.hu website.

Lost or stolen cards

We can only disable lost or stolen cards which have been previously registered with us.

Cards can be disabled

* at Sziget top up points
* by sending the word STOP and your 4 digit PIN in SMS to +36 20 66-99-777 (e.g. STOP 1234)
* through our website www.metapay.hu

After disabling a card at least 30 minutes must pass before we can transfer remaining funds to a new card. New cards are available at the top up points. Upon your request we will transfer any remaining funds from your old card to the new one. Each new card costs 500 Hungarian forints, which should be paid upon receiving the card.

From card to cash

The balance on the card is exchangeable to cash, upon cardholder’s request. You can exchange your balance at each Sziget card top up point. We exchange balances at latest until 12 o’clock in the morning on the 16th of August 2010. at our top up point next to the cashiers at the entrance. Exchange at other top up points is available at regular opening hours.

How much?

There is a 500 HUF deposit for the cards. We return the deposit when exchanging balance and hadling down the card. Paying with the Sziget card is absolutely free.

Basic facts about the Sziget card

The Sziget card is issued by Sziget Kft. together with Metapay. The cards represent electronic vouchers. Topping up the card’s balance means cardholders buy electronic vouchers. The balance of the electronic not stored on the card.

The cards operate in line with the Hungarian law in force. This card is not a bankcard, it does not represent a non-cash payment instrument, Sziget Kft does not manage deposits. The card can only be used for payment at a closed loop of merchants, at the time of a festival operated by Sziget Kft.

Cards are available at top up points run by Sziget and Metapay.

At the festival every restaurant and bar accepts the Sziget card. At the VIP area of the festival merchants only accept the Sziget card as a payment method. Outside the VIP area the card is an optional payment method."
