LMP said it will not tolerate Swedish excuses and refusal to supply the documents as the average Hungarian tax payers were compelled to fit the bill for the military purchase. The party has demanded that deputy Prime Minister Tibor Navracsics (also Minister of Justice and Public Administration) should take full responsibility in acquiring the documents.
LMP believes that they have a winning battle as the Swedes will soon be holding their general elections. The offset agreement for the Gripens was penned during the previous administration of current Prime Minister Viktor Orban in 2001.
Swedish television in 2007 carried an investigative report on an Austrian entrepreneur who had reportedly received a USD 8 million under the table for his mediation in the deal. A year later the Public Prosecutor’s Office claimed that there was no evidence of the allegations."
