Video & Photos: Giant Lego Tram Rolls into Budapest

The tram car designed by master architect Balázs Dóczy was unveiled at the Ferenc-város train station on Wednesday morning, then taken to Deák tér.
The vehicle, comprising nearly 1.8 million blocks, is 11.5 metres long, two metres high and two metres wide.
A total of 90 people took part in its construction in 6,800 working hours.
The Lego tram will be parked on Deák tér from November 20 to December 20.

At a related press event, Mayor Karácsony highlighted the importance of yellow trams to “Budapest-ness” and noted that the LEGO tram draws attention to the role of sustainable public transport.
Judit Váraljai-Sipos, Managing Director of LEGO Hungária, noted that this LEGO tram marks a milestone as the first life-size LEGO vehicle to move on a fixed track. She encouraged parents to rediscover the joy of play with its educational benefits.
