Hungarian Police Ban Devecser Protest
"Police have refused to allow a demonstration by Devecser residents to go ahead from Friday, citing the dangerous situation in Veszprém county. The people of Devecser want to protest against government compensation measures related to the October 4 toxic sludge disaster.

Earlier in the day local residents informed Ajka police that they planned to close one lane on route 8 from Devecser toward Budapest from 8 a.m. Friday until December 17.

Chief organiser Géza Csenki said Tuesday afternoon that they demand full compensation from the cabinet and clear information on health risks associated with the toxic disaster."
