KLM Royal Dutch Airlines Resumes Own Services To Budapest Airport Ferihegy
"After 5 years of break KLM is pleased to announce the relaunch of its own services between Budapest and Amsterdam. Budapest was previously served in codeshare with and operated by Malév Hungarian Airlines and from 31 October, KLM will be discontinuing its cooperation with Malév.

KLM will operate itself the new scheduled service using Boeing 737 equipment. Customers can choose between Economy and Europe Select Classes on board. With three daily services, the market will be well served for both local and connecting traffic. The schedule makes even one day stay possible in Amsterdam:

On the occasion of the inauguration, KLM invited its partners, corporate accounts and representatives of the Hungarian media for a day of celebrations.

The program started with welcoming the first KLM plane arriving from Amsterdam at 11.50 and was followed by the speeches of Mr. Philippe Maudet, General Manager Central Europe and Mr. Pieter Elbers, Senior Vice President of Network and Alliances.

“We are proud today to open a new strong link between Amsterdam and Budapest. This new flight proves our belief and long term interest in the growth and future of this beautiful country. We hope to help and further facilitate ties between the whole world and Hungary thanks to the worldwide network of Air France KLM. “ - says Mr. Philippe Maudet .

After the speeches and reception an Oldtimer aircraft flight above Ferihegy airport was offered to the guests.

The program finished with an exhibition opening. KLM announced a drawing competition among three orphanages in Hungary at the beginning of September. The 10 best drawings will be open for the public at Ferihegy Airport Terminal 2 until 15th of November. The most talented children together with their friends are rewarded with a 3 days trip to Amsterdam, starting on the day of inauguration.
