Digital Broadcasting Postponed In Hungary
"The government has decided to postpone the full digital switchover of Hungary’s television broadcasts by one year, to 2015, putting it in the same group as Romania and Bulgaria. Antenna Hungária will continue its analogue broadcast for one more year.

As a result, analogue frequencies cannot be used to launch 4G mobile services.

The postponement was included in the media law Parliament passed on Monday.

Providing set top boxes to poor families with old television sets would be too costly for the budget, the government argued.

Only Telenor protested the government’s failure to consult the public and telecoms companies.

The vast majority of European countries are urging the replacement of outdated analogue systems because of the major positive effect on the economy of the switch, Telenor observed."
