Hungarian Govt To Post Guards At Schools

They would be employed by government offices and would have to obey headmasters appointed by those offices.
Education undersecretary Zoltn Gloviczki told Magyar Nemzet that consultations are under way on introducing the new guards.
He stressed that the ministry can only agree with the initiative if schools in question put in a request for such a guard.
Sndor Keszei, head of the National Hungarian Parents Society, said it is outrageous that decision makers are mistrustful of children and want to deploy policemen to keep them inside the school.
Csaba Bene, head of the Nagykanizsa Technical School and College, said there is a great need for screening those who arrive and those who leave in the interest of protecting the school. A chip card entry system has been functioning at his school for eight years, he said."
