Penny Market And Metro Fall Victim To Plaza Ban Regulation In Hungary
Authorities have turned down requests for exemptions to the ban on big new shopping facilities from retail chains Penny Market and Metro, Origo reports. A regulation passed in November bans the construction of commercial properties larger than 300m2 until the end of 2014.

Penny Market has requested three exemptions and Metro one. Exemptions from the ban can be and have been granted by a committee of appointees from the Economy and Rural Development Ministries.
