Budapest Mayor Tarlós In Charge Of Kossuth Ter Works
Budapest city council placed mayor Istvan Tarlos in charge of the renovation of Kossuth ter outside Parliament, at the request of the government. All permits, approvals and official valuations concerning the project will be issued by Tarlos, without the need for approval by city council.

Tarlos will also be the authority in land registry questions, such as splitting or merging plots of land.

The council’s development and environmental committee did not support the authorisation of Tarlos, as it considers the project an unnecessary prestige action, according to its Socialist chairman Sandor Szaniszlo.

The government set aside Ft 2.4 billion in the 2012 budget for the project, including the construction of an underground garage for MPs.
