Invitation: 2nd Nufolk Festival – Enjoy World Music In Budapest
The best Hungarian world music bands give concerts between 27 and 30 June 2012 at the 2nd Nufolk Festival in Kobuci Kert, Óbuda. One of the nicest open air bars in Budapest provides 12 concerts in 4 days by internationally acclaimed bands like Besh o droM, The Balkan Fanatik, Napra, Kerekes Band and Ferenczi György és a Rackajam.

Ethno-rock, Csango boogie, Moldovan drum'n'bass, folk'n'roll, electro-ethno, fiery Carpathian and Balkan melodies under the shady trees. These are the offers of Kobuci Kert in the courtyard of Zichy Castle to fans of world music between 27 and 30 June. The guests of the 2nd Nufolk Festival might enjoy 12 concerts in four days by the best Hungarian representatives of the genre. These bands are masters of combining folk music and traditions with the dynamism and energy of the 21st century.

Budapest's premier folk festival provides concerts by internationally acclaimed Hungarian world music bands like Besh o droM whose performance is always ‘a splendid flight of wildness and a joyous exuberance that rarely pauses for breath’. One of the healiners is The Balkan Fanatik with their cheerful award-winning hip-hop electronica act influenced by folk music.

It is not worth missing the concert of award-winning ethno-rock band, Napra either. The leader of the band, Miklós Both is a virtuoso guitarist who created a very unique style with elements from Jimi Hendrix, Béla Bartók, Hungarian and Transylvanian folk music as well as traditional and urban gipsy music. Miklós Both is often referred to as ‘prima guitarist’ by the critics since he plays the guitar as if he was playing the violin. If you prefer harmonica, don’t miss the gig by the master of this instrument Ferenczi György és a Rackajam.

Winner of Fonogram Prize for the best world music album of 2011, Kerekes Band brings frequently requested though rarely played songs to their special gig entitled ‘Purple Night Psychedelic Concert’. If you like funky, swing, hip-hop, csardas, folk music and jazz, you will get all of these at one concert by Maszkura és a Tücsökraj who make music in praise of the beautiful women in Pest.

Visitors of the 2nd Nufolk Festival can also get acquinted with the new generation of Hungarian world music scene like Tárkány Művek, Folk Error, Szalonna Band, Őskestar, Budapest Nufolk Revolution and The Balkan Consort. There are three concerts every evening starting at 7 PM.
