PM Proclaims Hungarian Victory In Dispute With EU Over Crisis Management
Hungary has won the 18-month long dispute with Brussels on crisis management, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said in a video message posted on his Facebook site. A very important debate has ended between Hungary and the EU, he said, adding that the eurozone is struggling with a serious crisis and all countries are seeking appropriate crisis management.

In many places pensions and wages are being reduced and austerity measures carried out, Orbán observed. Hungary is taking a different path, one which Brussels objected to for a long time, he said. It did not like the bank tax or the inclusion of international companies in the system of equitable taxation, and found it unreasonable to strengthen the middle class with tax cuts during a crisis, he went on.

Finally Hungary managed to defend its position on all questions and Brussels has revoked all punishments meted out to Hungary, he concluded.

Orbán will open a series of consultations with the general staff of the Christian Democrats today. Prime Minister’s Office state secretary János Lázár and Fidesz caucus leader Antal Rogán will also attend.
