Sziget Festival Budapest Opens Its Gates
The Sziget festival celebrated the Day of Hungarian Song on Óbuda’s Hajógyár island on Sunday, with nearly 80 groups and solo acts performing 150 songs from noon until 11 p.m. Week-long campers began arriving before the festival proper starts on Wednesday, running until next Sunday.

The air above the audience at the main stage was cooled with water spray, said Sziget press chief Viktória Vető.

Health personnel distributed packs of water to visitors in the hot sun and organisers advised visitors to wear caps and drink plenty of water on hot days.

The festival, marking its 20th anniversary, will be broadcast live for the first time this year, on the YouTube internet channel.
