250 To Be Fired By State Media In Hungary
Some 250 people working for state-owned media outlets will be dismissed in the first week of December, Népszabadság reports. More than 30 will be dismissed from the news agency MTI, 80 from Magyar Rádió and nearly 140 from MTV and Duna TV. State media manager MTVA announced in late October that it was preparing to dismiss 250-260 staff.

This will be the third wave of dismissals in state media in the past two years, after some 900 jobs were eliminated in the summer and autumn of 2011.

December’s cuts will reduce the number of MTVA personnel to 2,000.
