Fewer State Media Staff To Be Let Go In Hungary
The number of state media personnel to be dismissed could be 195, rather than the planned 255, Népszabadság reports. Officials from the state media manager MTVA yesterday neared an agreement with the strike committee established by state-run media unions.

The MTVA announced in November that it would dismiss 255 staff members, in cuts that would mostly affect programme producers.

Reports say 40 people are to be dismissed from five regional radio stations, and several noted journalists from television stations.

Last month the MTVA adjusted the number of dismissals to 210.

The MTVA may reduce the number of dismissals by a further 20 at the request of the strike committee.
