LMP On The Brink Of Schism In Hungary
Tension and personal conflicts within LMP have reached such levels that a peaceful resolution of differences at the party congress this weekend is hard to imagine, Népszabadság writes today.

Internal rifts came to the fore in November when the party split over whether to enter into alliance talks with the newly formed Together 2014 and other opposition groups.

When the party narrowly rejected the notion, caucus leader Benedek Jávor quit that post and formed the Dialogue for Hungary faction within the party. He renewed the call for talks with Together 2014 earlier this week.

Caucus leader András Schiffer, advocating a go-it-alone strategy, spoke out again on Wednesday on the need for LMP to maintain a distance from the Socialist Party and Together 2014.

The members of the Dialogue for Hungary section who form a majority in the caucus, have in recent weeks toured the country in an effort to convince the party members of their view.
