Orosz was watching Ferencváros take on Videoton of Székesfehérvár at the Puskás Ferenc stadium when several people nearby chanted Nazi slogans, such as “Sieg Heil”.

When he asked them to stop, he was threatened and called a “Jewish communist.”

As he was leaving the stadium, two of the men blocked him. One of them said “Sieg Heil, no matter what” while the other struck him, breaking his nose.

Orosz had himself released from hospital on Monday so as to speak at a conference on hate speech.

Foreign Minister János Martonyi expressed his sympathy with Orosz, calling the incident shameful and outrageous.

Human Resources Minister Zoltán Balog noted that Orosz had been assaulted because he had spoken out against hate speech.

Interior Minister Sándor Pintér assured the cabinet that he will make every effort to see that the assailants are caught.
