Hungarian State Opera House In Budapest Presents 15 New Shows In The Autumn

The State Opera will premier 15 new productions next season, music director Domonkos Héja told reporters on Tuesday. The first new production at the reopened Erkel Theatre will be Zoltán Kodály’s János Háry, debuting on October 6.
Verdi’s Falstaff will be unveiled on September 21 at the Opera House, marking the bicentenary of the Italian composer, with Alexandru Agache in the title role directed by France’s Arnaud Bernard.
Opera director Szilveszter Ókovács said the Erkel Theatre will be officially reopened with a large-scale Erkel gala on November 7, Hungarian Opera Day.
