Caledonia Pub Wins Legal Appeal In Budapest
Regular expat customers at the Caledonia are delighted with the news from the popular pub's owner: "I'm really pleased to announce that the Caledonia has won against NAV at court. Thanks a lot for all your supporting words and thoughts. It really helped us a lot. We are still to receive the written statement from the judge - she has 30 days to do so. This can be a promising news to many other bars and restaurants with similar problems."

"The representatives of NAV (Hungarian tax and customs) did say to the judge that there are several closures in process at the moment and they will consider whether to take it to the Supreme Court. So hopefully not.

I really would like to say a huge thanks : To the team of lawyers who helped us through the stages so far, including Dr Bálint Bassola, dr. Dósa Melinda (Winkler, Barna és Társai Ügyvédi Iroda)

A special thanks to Kovács László (Magyar Vendéglátók Ipartestülete, www.facebook.com/vendeglatok) Hungarian Chamber of Restaurateurs. This association has made it possible for us to win, as they have managed to get the related law changed. The new regulations were published on the 21st of April, so now bars and restaurants can have more than one of the same bottle open.

Also thanks to Barcza Enikő, and her team at Kutató Centum, for completing a nation wide representative study on what you guys think out there. (facebook.com/KutatoCentrum)

And to all of you who followed us from last September. Will this be the end? We hope so. We hope NAV will not take it to the Supreme Court, and we can continue."
