Invitation: Skampida (CO) Concert, Bakelit Center, Budapest, 28 June
Skampida was formed in Bogota, Colombia in 1998. Skampida is as Skampida sounds: a stampede of positive Colombian ska that tramples right over you with energetic horns, rap solos, and pounding punky drums, all salted with traditional Colombian genres like cumbia and champeta. By combining elements of Colombian reggae, folkloric rhythms and urban sounds (hip hop, punk cumbia and champeta) along with gypsy influences and drum & ska, Skampida has captured a respectful amount of attention since forming in 2006.

In fact Skampida's openness and camaraderie is exactly what gives the group its unique sound. Back in Colombia, the bandmates collaborated with street musicians on the margins of society, often participating in festivals to help the poor.

In over 14 years of existence, "SKAMPIDA" has demonstrated to be one of the most versatile and restless musical groups from Colombia and Latin America. Their inventive and cutting edge sound, filled with deep emotion and conviction penetrates their listeners deep inside their soul and makes them evaluate life as a whole while onstage their energetic performance lifts you up and carries you away. Their concerts are spectacular and their fans wait through rain, sun, and cold weathers to hear them play.

28th of June, 2013.
