Don’t Drink &  Drive - New Regulations On Drunk Driving In Hungary
As of July 1st, new regulations on drunk driving have been introduced. Hungary has adopted the blood-alcohol content cut-off of 0.05, comparing to the previous 0.08 percent standard.

According to the Punishment of Violation of Road Traffic Regulations amendment, it is illegal to drive with a higher blood-alcohol level than the allowed 0.05 percent, with the immediate repercussion of one’s driving licence taken away.

Although alcohol-tolerance various person to person, if the level exceeds the limit of 0.05 percent, the respective person will be considered drunk and will face serious fines.

If the drunk driver provokes an accident and causes serious injuries, the driver can face up to ten years of imprisonment.
The primary aim of the new regulation is to decrease the number of accidents caused by drunk driving.
