Event Report: Balatonfured Wine Weeks In Hungary
“Postcards from the Balaton” would be a good theme to frame the 3 weeks of wine tasting by this beautiful lake. "Balatonfüred and the area around it isn't just famous for its wines, but also because of its relationship with the arts", Minister of State for Rural Development Zsolt V. Németh said on Saturday at the opening of the Balatonfüred Wine Weeks festival.

Quoting Hungarian writer and philosopher Béla Hamvas, the Minister of State said: "Drinking wine may not have a muse, but good wine can only be drunk properly by those who read poetry, listen to music and find beauty in art".

There maybe value in this opinion, though the wine was nevertheless delicious, with Olaszrizling, Rizlingszilváni, Tramini, Muscatel and Rhine Riesling, plus the evergreen favorites of Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay on show.

Over 150,000 people are expected to visit the event. No doubt, that they will enjoy the splendor of the venue and the delights of this gastronomic event. It is not by chance that Balatonfüred is the capital of the lake’s Northern shore, and is proud to hold the title of “the Town of Grape and Wine”.
