Invitation: World Puppetry Day,  Budapest, 21 March
21 March is not only the first day of astronomical spring but it is also World Puppetry Day. In 2014 Hungarian-speaking puppeteers seek to initiate a new tradition by presenting productions from several countries in unusual settings, to highlight the versatility of the art form.

The event series hopes to arouse interest in puppetry in Hungarian and its variety, the creative communities and the independent companies, the veterans and the latest generation. This day is set to be a celebration of puppet theatres in Hungary and elsewhere, with about 30 companies already participating in the initiative. The productions will intentionally have the character of happenings or street theatre.

09.57 am | Intercity train between Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport and Nyugati Station: Tourists anywhere (travelling with the Muppets from the Airport to the Budapest Puppet Theatre)
12.15 pm | Jókai Square: Jam - Open-air puppet concert
1 pm | Gellért Thermal Bath: Floating puppet theatre
1.30 pm | Hungarian State Opera: Puppet classics
2 pm | József Attila Cultural Centre, Angyalföld: An afternoon in the Puppet Museum
4 pm | Budapest Puppet Theatre: Adventures in puppet land
4 pm | Gutenberg Square: Puppets are humans too!
5 pm | Lukács Thermal Bath: Floating puppet theatre
5 pm | Fabula Puppet Theatre: Mazsola és Tádé* (*Tickets are required for this event)
