Jobbik Pledges To Boost State Funding For IVF Programme In Hungary
The radical nationalist Jobbik pledges to increase state funding for promoting IVF for infertile couples, the party’s spokeswoman said. Infertility affects about a fifth of couples in Hungary, said Dóra Duró, adding that support for their inclusion in an vitro fertilisation programme is a main pillar of Jobbik’s demographic policy.

A family with one child is the most common model in today’s Hungary. Yet 80% of one-child parents would like a second child, she said. Jobbik would introduce tax and other benefits, as well as home-building subsidies to support such families. The party would also reduce the tax rate of products and supplies required for supporting a child to 5%, she said.

Duró said Hungary had been hit by a “demographic disaster” of a declining population for the past few years. Every woman would have to raise four children to maintain the country’s population at its current level, said Duró.
